What is a topline?
A topline is the vocal melody, lyrics and performance that sits on top of a music production. As a topline writer, I write and record the hook, verses and any additional vocal parts. You provide the beat — I provide the voice and song.
What is the difference between exclusive and non-exclusive?
A non-exclusive licence means the same topline can be sold to multiple producers. An exclusive licence is a full buyout — once purchased, that topline belongs to you alone. No other producer can use it, and no royalty split applies.
Do I need to credit you on the release?
For non-exclusive licences, a songwriter credit ("Topline by Matthew Green") is required. For exclusive licences, credit is optional — but always appreciated.
What happens after I purchase?
After payment is confirmed via Stripe, you will receive a download link by email within 24 hours. The link includes all stems, guide tracks and documentation listed in the tier. If you have any issues, email hello@songsbymatthew.com.
Can I request a custom topline?
Yes — I take a limited number of custom commissions each month. Get in touch via the About page or email hello@songsbymatthew.com with your project brief, BPM, key and genre, and I'll come back to you within 48 hours.
