What's the ID?

Before everything lived on Beatport and every set was built from the same top 100, DJs took risks. They dug through crates, cut one-off dubplates, and played records nobody else in the room had ever heard. No preview, no waveform, no 30-second clip. Just a hunch that this one was special, and the nerve to drop it on a dancefloor and find out.

That was the whole thrill. Being first. Backing something on instinct before the rest of the world caught up. The modern scene has forgotten how to do that. Everything is pre-vetted, algorithm-safe, played to death before it's even out. The mystery is gone.

I loved that idea so much I built a whole drop around it. Every month I press one brand new vocal topline and sell it blind. No preview. You get the clues, the lane, the BPM, the key, the feel. It's down to you to trust your gut and back it. Once the month is over it's pulled for good, living on one batch of records and never sold again.

That instinct built every scene worth remembering. This is a small way to keep it alive.
